I got hit by Antivirus 2009 on New Year's Eve, and finally this morning downloaded Avast! It seems to be quarantined. Anyone have any advise?
First, Avast is a free full-function program, not a *trial*. You have to register it within 60 days of installing it, and once a year thereafter. Registration is always free.
I wasn't aware that Avast is able to remove Antivirus 2009, but if it does, that's great...
But if it doesn't, the tool of choice in removing Antivirus 2009 is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

You might want to try AVG. its a fee download. I got hit with the same thing..I killed one of my machines
