FYI: Dont install two firewalls or Anti-virus programs at same the same time. Make sure windows firewall is disabled after install of personal.
AVG (Advast!), is the best free antivirus that I know of (You have to choose the home verison, and then when you open your antivirus you click on register and it will just ask for things like your age, name, and email then it will give you a code to paste into the placebest antivirus software download avg opened up for you to enter the code into).
Norton NO NO even 2009 is a major improvement for norton it still sucks though.
For free Antivirus i recommend Avast or Avira
Paid I recommend Kaskersky 2009 or Nod32

free online antivirus software is generally not that good. most of the time, they`re just scans that don`t remove or protect anything. I would know because I tried a lot of free online antivirus software and they all failed to work.
PCMag just posted this tbest antivirus software downloadoday. It looks like through their testing, Panda Cloud is the best FREE anti virus and earned the Editors Choice. It beat out AVG and Avast.

im not sure if there are any completely free antivirus software, i think adaware is, or at least it used to be.
Go to download.com and download Avast Home Edition. I'm in and IT class and that's what they give us.
